We lost a great writer last week: Jonathan Gold, food critic for the LA Times, and the only food writer to have ever won a Pulitzer Prize. A few months ago, I had the good fortune of sitting down with Laura Gabbert who directed the beautiful film "City of Gold," which chronicles Gold's culinary journey into ethnic cooking in the city he loved. Gabbert, who has also directed such films as "Sunset Story" and "No Impact Man" also talks about how she broke into documentary filmmaking and what goes into making a movie like "City of Gold," which took her five years to complete.
